Swedish developers Morgondag see space games as being more than just a plethora of visual effects and action. This, to some, is a sacrilege. However there are others who look forward to a game that's not reliant on cliches associated with science fiction media such as explosions and over the top action.
Morgondag's game, RymdResa (no relation to rymdkapsel), puts players into the role as a spaceship pilot exploring the empty void that is deep space. Given only a handful of coordinates, players wander through a procedurally generated universe discovering planets and spaceships along their adventure.
Boasting hundreds of text-based quests, RymdResa allows the final outcome to be reflective of player choices throughout the game. The retro CRT monitor inspired art creates a focus not on shiny laser beams, but instead on a more relaxed game for those that enjoy exploring space and discovering new life and new civilizations.
RymdResa is still in development, but is making its way onto the iPad, PC, Mac, Linux, and even the Wii U. Voting for RymdResa is available on Steam Greenlight.
