LIVE REPORTS: The battle for 6VDT - CFC VICTORIOUS

Avatar
Eve is real, I was there.
Avatar
Bye bye TEST.
Avatar
Sitting in station...waiting to drop!
Avatar
Fun Fact: More people in 6VDT right now than most MMO's can handle on an entire server.
Avatar
We broke 4k in local
Avatar
The biggest war in gaming history, glad to say i was a part of it, even if I was in the army that falls, its fun to have that last stand.
Avatar
Just leaving work hope I get home in time for this....as a wh dwelling neutral im going to be siding with the underdog.....good luck Test, you will need it
Avatar
Go CFC Go SMASH TEST !!!
Avatar
No! DBRB has crashed!I've not actually heard this man before. He sounds hilarious.
Avatar
About 10 seconds after I started watching DBRB's stream, his client crashed, doh!
Avatar
Cheeky move, taking all those moons. Made me chuckle, good call
Avatar
To be fair, usually a last stand means that the defenders at least put up a fight. This is more like killing the women and children left after the warriors (N3/PL/NC.) ran away.
Avatar
You're joking, right? We formed up at least 1700 dudes and we're brawling it out.
Avatar
Yep smart move alright. Really tipped the odda further in their favour
Avatar
He's great, others can say what they want, i've always liked flying with him.
Avatar
Eve is real, my client crashed there!
Avatar
Last stand of the... ...30,000... wow times have changed since ancient Sparta.Still, we got the war everyone wanted.
Avatar
When TEST conquered 6VDT in Feb 2011, 58 billion isk worth of damage was done...I think that may be a drop in the ocean compared to tonight.
Avatar
I bet TEST too is hoping for Frodo to drop the ring at this point.
Avatar
By run away did you mean crush solar for a weeks holiday and came back?
Avatar
AT FIRST CYNO ON THE FIFTH HOUR LOOK TO THE EAST
Avatar
Which way is east ?
Avatar
Apparently, DBRB had a bit of parent aggro there. Keeping the stream flowing with drama, as expected.
Avatar
Pizza bombers are freelancing, right?
Avatar
Last Stands don't really work mean anything in a game where you wake up in a clone bay after dying.
Avatar
RAVIOLIIIII
Avatar
Why where are you going?
Avatar
to much crap jus tyolo
Avatar
Today marks the fall of the CCP Engineering alliance to the combined might of Nullsec.let me log back in damnit, i want to know if my ship is dead or not
Avatar
Where are the capitals?
Avatar
keep the updates coming please. It's Monday-morning-at-work time here and this is my only link with what I would rather be doing.
Avatar
Just beautiful, Mittens. Really too bad the TiDi is eating up the good experience. I hope, CCP are working their arses clean off reinforcing the node and hopefully reducing the TiDi if not killing it totally...:/.
Avatar
You formed up 1700 guys in whatever trash was left in your hangers. You;re not brawling it out; you've lined up for the slaughter. You honestly brought a couple prophs to fight nearly 1000 megas? Christ man,you would have better better off evacing to Delve tonight.
Avatar
4k IS a lot of people for a single system :P
Avatar
True, but I wouldn't call 10% tidi "handling" it for us either.
Avatar
BRANDON!
Avatar
You know we're on the Jita node, right?
Avatar
I hope they leave well enough the hell alone. Accidental remap would be terrible at this point.
Avatar
I dont know how you can call this a fight... putting 4k dudes in a system to cap it hardly qualifies. GG goons on blobbing a system to max capacity and calling win.
Avatar
It is as reinforced as it gets. Unfortunately, this is as good as it gets with current technology and current code.If CCP can figure out a way to multithread the game it can scale infinitely. Without that, we are reliant on code optimization and Intel releasing new processors.
Avatar
Are test not also trying to counter blob? L2EVE.
Avatar
Unfortunately for your reality perception, 2000 of them are CFC, the rest are our opponents. As for why they decided to show up late for their own system and station, and why we showed up early, well that's on them.
Avatar
Grr Goons cheated by showing up early to a timer!
Avatar
i dont know but it will take 5 hours to light a cyno amirite
Avatar
Another fun fact: This fight is happening on CCP's Supernode that is usually hosting Jita. So if your trades were a bit slow today, please direct your complaints to the evil blue nullsec donut.
Avatar
Well, to be fair, if you are in 6VDT now you can hardly say that server can "handle" it.
Avatar
6VDT started with about 1700 before TEST bridged in. Karen local sat at 1700 before they bridged in and then the system capped with a little over 4000. Now it's dipping and the fight is a matter of who can reship fast enough. Pretty even numbers though if you just include TEST and the rest of the CFC. Count N3 in there and it may be that the CFC is getting blobbed numbers-wise. Time will tell.
Avatar
The freaking Imperial Armada has arived.
Avatar
Nah CCP Engineering can get QA Shield Extenders
Avatar
TEST's mumble server was strained, and led to us bridging in a little later than we would have liked.
Avatar
Not true. Seen plenty of your fleets run the fuck away when they had equal numbers.
Avatar
Why no free speech? Mittens, you see what's happening here?
Avatar
I do believe they call that "Das Roüt" or even "Das Über Roüt"
Avatar
So I'd say that today's fight made CCP realize they need to revaluate what a "Supernode" is?
Avatar
I always thought Mr Vee was quite a bit better, but I've read "bombers led by DBRB wiped out ____ many ships" a lot recently, so it seems like he's found a great niche for himself.
Avatar
6VDT isn't meaningless, but making a station shield timer into such a high-stakes do or die deal is pretty dumb
Avatar
the fleet just needs to assign drones and sit back, basically its a doctrine that puts no faith in the individual pilot's ability to fight.
Avatar
well done goons
Avatar
I was reading through the report waiting for it to end with: CCP pushes the wrong button, everyone is disconnected.
Avatar
Turned out it was this day.
Avatar
I saw 4050 dudes in system, then 2 minutes later 3800.
Avatar
until prophecies drop like flies. The dreads I was with were having a good time, everybody was just picking their own targets(admittedly a challenge in TiDi that bad) and going to town, and the fight was effectively over by the time we entered.
Avatar
DBRB has become one of my favorite FCs since the drake got hammered into the ground. While drakes were still a thing I shot so many POSes with them under The Great Crimson Vessel that to this day I still won't fly one.
Avatar
Buy PLEX. Finance CCP so they can expand their servers. If you don;t purchase PLEX or actually pay your subscription with your hard earned money. Then your complaints don't matter.
Avatar
CCP says there was no 4k Cap. Spin spin spin little loser.
Avatar
There has never been free speech on this site, this isn't fucking Reddit.
Avatar
It was. I couldn't get my guns to activate properly for the entire fight(mind you, in a dreadnought) but I still took down three prophecies pretty much unaided aside from a few bombs.
Avatar
Retreated, found out you couldn't run, and came back?
Avatar
It's official: TEST is surrendering, and will no longer be contesting Fountain.https://soundcloud.com/phyber_...
Avatar
Welp, meatgrinder for sure. We're just happy that we managed to form 400 dudes.
Avatar
I'm not much of a coder, but CCP would have to switch off of Python for that, wouldn't they?
Avatar
I think you're mistaken.
Avatar
You do realize that every Plex in the game was bought with real money at one point, don't you?
Avatar
Notice I said goon-enemies. Enemies of Goons. Not Enemies of TMC. Tryharder, tryhard.
Avatar
That rhymed far better than a regurgitated meme should have.
Avatar
Yep, just donutting along in the biggest donut friendly-fake battle in eve's history. ever.
Avatar
kill Testies, upset carebears.no happier day than today.
Avatar
morale victory? lul
Avatar
So what now?
Avatar
Miss the SOTA? It's back to Delve with you.
Avatar
looks like we need a screenshot.
Avatar
There is no more CPU power to be had. There is simply no way to pack in more hamsters without the squishy bits escaping all over the server room floor and making a mess.
Avatar
They can also say whatever they want on twitter after and be believed
Avatar
There isn't a single MMO that can have as many people in a single spot as EVE does. The fact that a fleet fight with 4000 people works, albeit slowed down, is a huge triumph. Better than the node just outright crapping itself as WoW servers are prone to do when you have 200 people in the same spot.
Avatar
A battle well fought TEST.Here's to hoping we get plenty more battles like this in Delve.
Avatar
I'd like to thank both the CFC and N3ST - seriously, no matter what side you were on for this fight, this was the biggest fight in EVE's history - and I believe the largest single combat action in computer gaming history. It was quite an incredible thing to experience and be a part of.To the CFC fleets - wow. Just wow. That was a damned impressive show of force, and a damned impressive bit of coordination, with unified target calling across seven fleets. To the N3/TEST fleets - honestly, I don't know how much coordination you guys had between fleets on your end, but you came to fight, and you went into the meat grinder with us. I'd like to think I'd have this same 'Well damn' feeling even if we'd lost, because you guys really made that one worth it.
Avatar
I was only watching the killboards of the system as time moved on (wasn't there and wasn't watching stream), and I kept seeing TEST command ship kills pop up one after the other. Now reading the report it makes sense, TEST leadership got assassinated one by one, I think this was the main victory point.
Avatar
Supercapitals were not an option in this fight because:A) The CFC had overwhelming subcapital dominance, meaning that any support for the supers would have been eradicated, leaving the supers to fend for themselves. B) The CFC towered every moon in the system prior to the battle, meaning that any supers involved in the fight (since they didnt have staging towers), would have had to either be logged out in the system already, or jump into the TIDI shitfest and pray that they could load grid. C) The fight was, initially, between subcapitals only. The CFC eventually escalated to capitals, which one would imagine would justify a supercapital escalation, except that at that point it was too late to bring them in.Super capitals are far from irrelevant.
Avatar
Is that better?
Avatar
Perhaps there isn't a single MMO that can do that, but I'd say EVE barely qualified on the "4000" people part. When it was at over 4000 people, and the battle started, the game barely functioned. And when the bombs hit the field, the server churned slower, which I didn't think possible.Commands were sent for the use of modules, and in many cases they were not parsed. Not delayed, but simply not functioning. I know because I had to change running my Remote Armor Repairer modules by mashing the keys so that hopefully some set of those commands would not be lost on the way to the server, until I got an audible tone that they were engaged. And this is saying nothing of the other things that simply could not get commands through.Don't get me wrong, CCP has achieved much to make it work well enough. But I'd say this is more cause for alarm than celebration. They did their best, and it was not enough. They're going to need to find another way to amp up processing power and/or optimize their netcode.Because this won't be the last battle with 4000 people on the field.
Avatar
theres always more cpu power to be had. there are larger companies out there who need more processing power than a mmo and they outsource their spikes to azure or amazon or other cloud computing services. I wonder if that´s at all possible for CCP to do...anyways.. today with current cloud and technology, having not enough processing power should not happen, especially for a staged fight light this. Cmdr_Red said it right: they need to address what a "Super node" is.. seems their definition is not up to the challenge. they improved their setup significantly, but as long a theres soo much TiDi (which should not a feature, but a workaround) these kins of battles are great but not as enjoyable as thy could be.
Avatar
again you have to tip your hat to those bastard goons for oing a tremendous logistics work regarding prep and using the games resources to the maximum effect. a bloody nose would have been much more interesting, but this will also do I guess. Whoever thinks this war will go on much longer ... well its not a war anymore; its a stomping.
Avatar
1. Rape joke. 2. Bad internet meme. Please do better.
Avatar
Remember Y-2ANO
Avatar
I love the final update without mentioning the loss of a CFC titan in system. Clearly didn't happen.
Avatar
Avatar
No CFC victory is completed without a welp.Be it a full fleet, a super cap or a titan !!!In the its winning wars what count. And expect a articale comming soon. These boards also have Test writerrs you know ?it isnt Eve24 your reading
Avatar
Let him believe that CCP cheated in our favor, if thats what it takes to make the loss easier to swallow. He's still full of shit tho.
Avatar
I programmed multithreaded along time ago in Modula 2, but I thought the TiDi was due to the server being unable to process all the information from 4K+ clients and thus the client had to slow down=TiDi. That way the server has a chance to follow up. Not much of a genious in regards to MMORPG and how the server-side software works. Recon it's a kind of Oracle/MS SQL server solution and the eve-client updating/recieving data stored there - data gathered by all clients in the sandbox.
Avatar
Well through my entire eve career, not once have i found the text: "Capsule Ejected" fun to watch.
Avatar
it has its own articleexcellent work checking up on the front page, anybody familiar with TMC will expect such things to be covered in ALODs
Avatar
yes clearly trying to sweep a titan loss that is going to top eve-kill for the next week unless PL decides to throw another Revenant or AT prize ship into a fire is something TMC wants to play atoh wait no they had Marlona write an ALOD on the titan
Avatar
While you can nitpick my generalizations, that really doesn't matter. At the end of the day, they did their best and IT. WAS. NOT. ENOUGH. There will be more 4000 person battles, and ones even larger than that.I'm not saying it's easy, I'm saying that this is cause for alarm, and they need to begin remedying it immediately.
Avatar
So you enjoy TiDi? Seriously?I have a life and when other people in that life watch TiDi the only thing enjoy is DBRB on comms.
Avatar
Way too high to type correctly
Avatar
Dude, what?
Avatar
I was triple boxing. 2 of my clients eventually responded. One of my clients was a series of "soul crushing lag" messages which means every 5 minutes the server said that it couldn't process my command from 5 minutes ago.

CFC Megathrons in position on the 6VDT station before the battle

Battle report link is here: API still updating

We are moments away from the shield timer for 6VDT-H, TEST's ancestral home in Fountain. After a week or so of heavy sov losses, TEST's new military director Ingen Kerr has called for an all-out defense of the system, and it seems like both sides are getting hyped for what could be the biggest fight in EVE's history.

The 6VDT station is currently caged in bubbles. Karan (TEST's staging system) local has over 1500 while 4-EP (CFC staging) at one point surpassed 2000. There are rumors that the long departed NCdot super fleet has redeployed. As of this writing, local in 6VDT has passed 3,000 pilots.

Both Mad Ani and TMC's Dabigredboat are streaming the fight.

Here are Jabber speeches from each side. TEST:

I SEE IN YOUR EYES THE SAME FEAR THAT WOULD TAKE THE HEART OF OTHER ALLIANCES. A DAY WILL COME AGAIN WHEN THE COURAGE OF TEST FAILS, WHEN WE FORSAKE OUR ALLIES AND BREAK ALL NIPS AND AGREEMENTS.

BUT IT IS NOT THIS DAY.

AN HOUR OF PROPHECIES AND AHAC WRECKS WHEN THE AGE OF TEST COMES CRASHING DOWN

BUT IT IS NOT THIS DAY

THIS DAY WE FIGHT

BY ALL THAT YOU HOLD DEAR IN NULLSEC, I BID YOU, STAND. PILOTS OF TEST!

#### SENT BY BoodaBooda to Allies @ 2013-07-28 18:54:16 EVE Time ####

CFC:

The foe is doing morale pings with LOTR quotes. We're not going to bother with a morale ping because we're in the system first, we have seven Baltecfleets, One AHAC fleet, Two Bomber wings, One FuckYouFleet, and yeah.

GSOL are heroes: after the work of our capfleet in destroying every single hostile tower in 6VDT, GSOL threw up 26 towers in 6VDT last night , blocking every single moon. The enemy has no safe towers: nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and must bridge into our force.

*** This was a broadcast from the_mittani to all-all at 2013-07-28 19:02:22.099746 EVE, replies are not monitored ***

Update: 21:00 EVE - The FC characters of most of the N3ST forces have been volleyed off the grid by CFC forces.  The CFC bridged into 6VDT first and orbited the station, waiting for N3ST to enter; the CFC had ~850 Megathrons across nine fleets, including two bomber fleets and an AHAC fleet. The N3ST forces are two Prophecy fleets, one AHAC fleet, and a bomber wing. The fight is presently occuring on the station grid itself.

21:07 EVE - CFC bombers led by Dabigredboat have destroyed 60+ N3ST Prophecy Fleet ships in one bombing run. The following image is from Lazarus Telraven, FC of the third CFC Megathron fleet:

21:13 EVE - A NCdot Dominix fleet led by Vince Draken is in system, but still not on the field; they are being plagued by node/disconnect problems

21:19 EVE - The CFC is primarying Legions, having cleared the hostile Damnations and other Fleet Command ships on the grid. It is unclear at this time how effective N3ST primary-calling has been.

21:26 EVE - The CFC has bridged in an eighth Megathron fleet.  A scan of the wrecks on the grid shows the following losses (note: wrecks are often destroyed in fights by bombing runs)

Cruiser: 32  Frigate T2: 32  Battlecruiser: 22  Frigate: 19  Strategic Cruiser:10  Destroyer T2: 6  Destroyer:5  Battlecruiser T2: 3  Battleship: 2

CFC forces are primarily in Battleships, with N3ST forces in Cruisers, Battlecruisers and Strategic Cruisers.

21:34 EVE - Spies in N3ST fleets report that they are 'headless' after having FC ships assassinated; command and control is breaking down. N3ST is calling for cynos to bring more FCs in.

Many N3ST ships are warping out to the B17O gate into the bubbles of a CFC AHAC fleet led by Imperian.

21:40 EVE - A CFC bombing run against a TRIBE reinforcement fleet of mostly EWAR cruisers reported heavy enemy casualties. CFC Megathron fleets continue to chew through N3ST Strategic Cruisers, with Legions being the current focus.

21:46 EVE - The NCdot Dominix fleet has landed on the B170 gate and is engaging Imperian's AHAC fleet.

21:54 EVE - Local and Ships in 6VDT: https://adashboard.info/intel/dscan/view/fm3I2CaB#zg-local

http://raynor.cl/eve/formRecive.php?id=fDnkNQO

21:58 EVE - The number of TEST pilots on Mumble has dropped by ~200 since the start of the battle.

22:26 EVE - Extended brawl in 10% Tidi. A TRIBE AHAC fleet is fleetwarping away from the station battlefield to extract or reposition. CFC has dropped 200 caps on the station, mostly dreadnaughts

22:46 EVE: N3ST forces on the stations are 'starbursting' away from the station and trying to get out. Spies report that N3ST fleets have recently discovered that there are no safe POS to evacuate from in 6VDT as every moon is towered by the CFC. CFC dreads have been ordered to free-fire.

Update 23:03 EVE: TEST and N3 reinforcement fleet has been told to stand down. Fight continues on the 6VDT grid; most N3ST Prophecies are down, but there are many Zealots there.

Update 23:18 EVE: A TRIBE AHAC fleet had attempted to extract from B170 gate, only to find it bubbled; they are now warping back to the 6VDT station in hopes of killing some dreadnaughts before they are themselves destroyed.

Update 23:41 EVE: TEST and TRIBE AHAC fleets have gone back onto the 6VDT station grid and are attacking the CFC capital fleet; approximately 800+ CFC Megathrons are on this grid along with 200+ capitals.

Update 00:03 EVE: TEST and TRIBE fleets have engaged a CFC dreadnaught on the 6VDT station and been bombed, losing approximately fifty Prophecies in one run. A scan of local at this time can be found here. A D-scan of the station grid can be found here.

Update 00:45 EVE:  The remains of the TRIBE fleet is trying to extract to the B17O gate. CFC forces remain on the station, chewing through Zealots.

Update 00:49 EVE: The 6VDT station has been hit into armor reinforced. 905 CFC Megathrons and 147 Dreadnaughts are on the field. One CFC Naglfar was destroyed.

Update 00:52 EVE: CFC forces have declared victory, posting 'fofofo' and 'See you in NOL' in local. The CFC holds the field.

Final Update: A full battle report from the CFC perspective can be found here, from Vily, one of the Megathron FCs.

Sun Win
I am having a wonderful time.
