There is no position as entertaining - or as privileged - as that of a 'third party' in a bloc war. We know this, because we spent the last few months watching NCdot and friends furiously masturbating over what they got to do to us during the Fountain War.
Consider the third party: none of your space is at risk. There are no political consequences to your actions. If your side wins, you share the glory; if your side loses, it was the other guy's fault because you were 'just a third party'. Your mere presence can make a tremendous strategic impact; while PL 'just sent subcaps' into Fountain from their staging system in Syndicate, the presence of their lurking capital fleet severely restricted our operations - until we adopted Siegefleet, gave everyone the finger, and swept.
At every opportunity, NCdot and their allies in N3 have taken the chance to "third party" against GSF and the CFC. Their hangers-on in N3 memorably declared that their entire coalition exists to try to destroy the CFC. If you could weaponize hypocrisy, these people would control the galaxy. They whine about blobbing and 'gudfites' while deploying 200+ sentry assist carriers on a station in complete safety. They seem to think we should give a flying fuck about their gameplay experience when they repeatedly tried to come at us and ruin ours. They unironically complain that they are 'fighting for a blue-free Eve' when having assembled a massive shitpile of pubbies which is (gasp) just like every other coalition in game. And they've never been punished for it.
Yet now, nursing their wounded pride from their loss in Fountain, NCdot and N3 find themselves fighting a defensive war against a resurgent Russian-led bloc in the galactic East, a war of extinction in which their homes and very identity are at stake. Well, well, well - ain't that a shame.
Now it's our turn.
Ostfront: The Story So Far
On Halloween, Solar Fleet and Black Legion made a surprising move: they allied formally with Darkness of Despair, -A-, and Stainwagon, RUS entities which they had previously been unfriendly towards. Putting aside their differences against a mutual enemy, Solar deployed to KDF in Catch, just outside of Immensea. N3/NCdot unsurprisingly saw this staging move as a precursor to war, and so they fired the first shots, attempting a dual-headshot move of both KDF and GE-8, the -A- capital, which promptly failed as all headshot attempts inevitably do. Full scale bloc war broke out. Several CFC entities were already in Curse and begin acting as 'Honourable Third Parties' in these initial fights, with European Goonion and Freedomsquad from GSF basing out of G-0 without any actual CFC contract support.
Right now the war is in a stalemate, with the RUS having picked up one station from N3. RUS tends to win subcap fights, and N3 has taken to dropping slowcats on everything just as they did in Fountain. While there are daily fights, progress on either side had begun to stagnate around the Immensea/Catch front line.
Turnabout is Fair Play
We are now going to do to NCdot and their friends in N3 exactly what they did to us in Fountain. We are going to be 'honourable third parties' in this war and make their lives and their gameplay hell. At every turn where they complain on the forums about how we are ruining their 'good fights' and 'blobbing', we will remind them with a sweet, false smile that this is exactly what they tried and failed to do to us. This is the first opportunity the CFC has ever had to be an 'honourable third party', and I want nothing less than absolute cruelty and sadism on display. No honor, no fun for the foe, nothing but having their faces smashed in shit over and over and over again until they cry, beg, and plead for forgiveness for what they tried to do to us. We're just here for fun and good fights, gentlemen; why are you upset?
Standing Orders: What Do
- Get to G-0 in Curse, our eastern FOB. There's a Waffe office there. We're staging in the other station, without a clone bay, because we're idiots and the one with a medbay is a kickout. Pod to the medbay office, move to the other station.
- Doctrines: Siegefleet, Dominixes, Prophecies, Harpies. We're playing with drone assist doctrines. Dominixes will be on contract and the market will be seeded, but feel free to seed it even more.
- Get your Grindface On: We're turning Lyris and friends loose. Skrimish commanders are invited to step up and help Lyris et al torch N3. When we are not fighting, we will be grinding, because FUCK these people.
- We're neutral to the RUS and red to the N3 bloc in terms of standings. We have no standings with the RUS because we're Honourable Third Parties. Make sure to remind everyone of this constantly. Outside of major engagements the RUS might shoot you, don't expect blue standings.
- Subcap convoys begin Saturday. Cap convoys will be announced through the usual channels.
- Not all the CFC will be joining us in Curse. Some will be going on ~special missions~ to ~special places~.
With the changes to racial skill requirements to carriers, we're shifting literally all of our carriers to Archons. If you lose a carrier of any non-Archon flavor, you will be handed an Archon in reimbursement. You don't need to ditch your non-Archon carrier right now (though it'd be peachy if you did!) but when you lose it, you'll have an Archon. The Archon is unquestionably the superior carrier type and there's no reason not go emphasize/spam them: our enemies already are.
Blackops is a strategic asset and counts for participation in terms of pap links. That is a very dry way of saying 'Blackops has killed 30+ ratting carriers in EMP space and forced them to turn off their beacons and generally made a horrible mess of things, and it's a lot of fun.' While Blackops currently is fielding 20-40 Blackops BS in US Prime, the org desperately needs Euro TZ pilots.
Keep Training For Dreads
In an EVE infected with drone assist, there is only one reliable counter to massed sentry carriers. "550+ battleships" works in theory, but in practice the node dies and the carriers get away, a la Z9PP. We need Dreadnaughts: lots of Dreadnaughts. We included 'train for dreads, jerk' in the previous CEO Update, and it remains the case.
